The core preparation and glue-application stages may be shared, but the laminating route changes with the product.
1. Panel feeding and preparation
Panels are loaded manually or automatically, then checked for dust, machining residue, damage and surface variation.
The adhesive is prepared and applied within its specified operating window. The application method, working width, single- or double-sided coating, spread rate and cleaning procedure are matched to the material and production pattern.
Roll material, sheets or veneer are fed and positioned on the panel. Alignment, tension, contamination control and the pressing time must remain within the accepted process window.
The assembly passes through continuous lamination, a hot press, a cold press or a membrane press. This is a process choice, not a universal sequence.
Pressure release does not always mean the bond has reached its final condition. The downstream flow should protect the panel while the adhesive cools or cures according to its technical requirements.
Excess surface material may be trimmed, and the panel may require cleaning, edge processing, light sanding or another confirmed finishing step before inspection.
The finished part is checked against the agreed surface, alignment, bond, dimensions and defect criteria.

Continuous lamination is a good choice for high-volume production of flat panels. Panels and surface materials move through the line continuously, with each stage designed to keep feeding, bonding and finishing consistent. A typical line may include panel cleaning, preheating, adhesive application, surface feeding, laminating rollers or presses, trimming, conveying and stacking.

What is the difference between laminating and pressing?
Laminating applies a surface or combines layers with a substrate. Pressing supplies controlled contact through pressure and, in some processes, heat. A continuous laminating line may use rollers or calenders instead of a conventional platen press, while membrane pressing forms a surface over a profiled component.
A glue spreader applies and meters adhesive across the panel surface before lay-up or lamination. Its job is to support consistent coverage within the adhesive’s working window. The correct roller arrangement, spread setting, speed and cleaning method depend on the adhesive and panel.
Choose the adhesive with the adhesive supplier based on the substrate, surface, end-use requirement and available process. Then use the current technical datasheet to define application temperature, spread rate, open time, pressure, temperature, press time and curing conditions.
