How to Select an Industrial CNC Woodworking Machine.
1. Workpiece and Material
Confirm the substrate or wood species, thickness range, min. &max. part size, surface and any material-related machining limitations.
2. Required Operations
List every operation the machine must complete: cutting, routing, drilling, grooving, pocketing, engraving, profiling, joint machining or three-dimensional processing.
3. Number of Machining Faces
Define whether the workpiece requires side, end, angled, rotary or multi-face machining.
4. Workholding Method
Flat sheets, small components, curved parts and solid wood blanks may require different holding methods.
5. Spindle, Tools and Tool Changing
The material, tool dia., cutting depth, operation sequence and cycle determine the appropriate spindle and tooling discussion.
6. Software and Production Data
Confirm the design and CAM software, file formats, post-processor requirement, labeling, or factory-management software.
7. Acceptance Criteria
Agree how the machine will be evaluated. A useful acceptance plan identifies the test material, drawing revision, tools, program, measurement method, required dimensions, visible finish and agreed production conditions.

Pre-milling may help prepare a consistent reference edge before adhesive application, especially when the saw-cut edge has taper, chipping or surface irregularity. Its value depends on incoming edge quality, material, accepted finish and upstream cutting process.
